County Watering Guidelines
St. Johns County has seasonal watering restrictions in effect, which allow residential properties with odd-numbered or no addresses to water on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and even-numbered addresses on Thursdays and Sundays. Nonresidential properties can water on Tuesdays and Fridays. Watering is prohibited from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, and each zone is limited to one hour of irrigation.
Residential watering schedule
Odd-numbered or no addresses: Wednesday and Saturday
Even-numbered addresses: Thursday and Sunday
Nonresidential properties
Watering days: Tuesday and Friday
General rules for all properties
Prohibited times: No watering from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Duration: Watering is limited to one hour per zone
New lawns: Can be watered daily during the first 60 days after installation, within the allowed watering hours.
Exceptions to the rules
New landscaping: New sod or landscape can be watered daily for the first 30 days, and every other day for the next 30 days.
Chemicals: Watering in of chemicals (fertilizers, insecticides) is permitted at any time within 24 hours of application.
Micro-irrigation: Drip irrigation, soaker hoses, and hand-held watering with a shut-off nozzle are allowed at any time.
Reclaimed water: Use of reclaimed water is generally exempt from day-of-the-week restrictions, but users are encouraged to follow conservation guidelines.
Certain types of watering are allowed outside of the standard schedule:
New landscaping: Can be watered every day for the first 30 days and every other day for the next 30 days.
Chemicals: Watering in of chemicals (fertilizers, insecticides) is permitted at any time within 24 hours of application.
Drip irrigation and hand watering: Using micro-irrigation systems or a hand-held hose with a shut-off nozzle is allowed at any time.
Reclaimed water: Use of reclaimed water is exempt from the day-of-the-week restrictions, but customers are still encouraged to use water wisely.
